Jim Anderson
 
 

Jim Anderson is a multi-media artist who has been designing and constructing mosaics for several years. His work has been exhibited internationally and he has won two major awards in exhibitions in the U.K.

He undertakes both private and public commissions, and worked either alone or with the help of others (assistants have included artists Sally Kendall, Oliver Taylor and Ella Berthoud.) Private Clients have included actors, ornithologists and peers of the realm; however, he particularly welcomes the opportunity to work in public/community context.

Recent major projects have included:

 
 
  • Phase Three of the ongoing Anglo-Kenyan Mosaics for Hospitals Project at Mathare Psychiatric Hospital, Nairobi carried out in collaboration with Juhudi Children’s Club
  • A series of four ceramic mosaic murals in Gertrude's Garden Children's Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya ;with David Kimani and members of Nairobi's Juhudi Children's Club.(September 2002)
  • A mosaic mural for the Headquarters of the Brent Samaritans, London. (2002-2003)
  • A mosaic mural in Ashdon School, Cambridgeshire, U.K.(July 2002)
  • A mosaic mural on the outside wall of The Fleet Centre, Gospel Oak, London; this work was short listed for a Camden Design award. (2000-2001)
  • A large public commission in Somers Town, Central London; carried out in collaboration with over fifty local children. (1998)
  • A mural on the Greek Island of Milos constructed entirely of natural coloured pebbles and found fragments of coloured glass. (1998-2001)
  • A 50 sq. metre bathroom frieze for a private client in London.(1998-99)
  • A panel for one of Britain's foremost authorities on the Dodo. (1998)

Jim Anderson was recently selected for a residency at the Fundacion Valparaiso, Almeria, Spain. Negotiations are underway for possible mosaic projects in Pennsylvania, U.S.A; and in San Antonio, Texas, U.S.A.
