Myself with my nephews in front of my artwork in the London Tube
Work in progress: the first of a series of three bird murals for a school in North London. As yet ungrouted and unpolished.
In 1989 I visited the Tarot Garden built in Italy by french artist Niki de St. Phalle - a cornucopia of mosaic, over-the-top sculpture, and delirious mysticism. It remains one of my great inspirations to this day.
In 2006 I was commissioned by Head Teacher Carel Buxton and to supervise the construction of a series of large mosaics for the exterior of Redbridge Primary School. The imagery was devised by myself and some of the school's pupils - and the actual construction of the artworks was carried out over the course of a year by with the active participation of almost every child in the school.
Thanks are particularly due to teacher Alison Bush who organized and inspired so much of this project.
